Well the costing for one and a half ours is stupid if one hour is $150 and two hours $300 then one and a half hours should be $225 max without any discount for the longer time but infact you pay $240 for an hour and a half.

yes. Angie has been pushing the one and an half hour thing lately because it is the best outcome for her. The WL bears almost all the difference between two half hour sessions compared to a one hour session.

When Angie tries to up-sell she is trying to put more money into the WL's pocket without affecting her operation plus trying to reduce her laundry load. You have to know she does everything..including laundry.. herself.

She also has to keep the WL's happy or else they won't come back.

So next time Angie tries to up-sell you it is mainly to keep the WL happy and yes there is a benefit for Angie as it reduces her laundry load.

Hi LW...My case above assumes Angie has two opportunities one for 1.5 hours and another for one hour plus plus a possible second hour. If the room was vacant for the additional half sure everyone makes more money but if it is not the WL does far better when a half hour is involved. There is also a chance that after a 1.5 hour job the WL will pick up another 30 minute job before she gets back on the hour again(1,2,3,4,5PM etc..)where most bookings are 1 hour.

It is simply because 30 minute jobs are far more profitable for the WL. If a WL was to do all half hour jobs in the full 14 hour day she would walk away with $xxx more for the day than if she did all 60 minute jobs for the day. There is a slight increase for the shop with 30 minute jobs BUT that is negated by extra laundry,power and water costs.

I am not backing Angie or the WL here but just highlighting a simple case of math with the pricing as it is.

The discounted one hour session or multiples of is almost fully subsidised by the WL so once 30 minute increments are added the WL gains the most..
